NightOwl is designed to be a safe, anonymous sanctuary for meaningful human connection. While we prioritize privacy, we have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that threatens the safety of our users, especially minors.
2. Zero Tolerance for CSAE and CSAM
NightOwl has **zero tolerance** for Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). We strictly prohibit:
- The promotion, distribution, or facilitation of any content involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
- Any attempt to groom, contact, or exploit children.
- Any language or behavior that endangers minors.
3. 18+ Community
NightOwl is strictly for adults aged **18 and older**. We enforce this through: * **Age Declaration:** All users must confirm their age during onboarding. * **Reporting:** Any user suspected of being under 18 will be permanently banned from the platform.
4. Safety by Design
We provide users with immediate tools to protect themselves:
- Real-time Blocking: Instantly block any user during or after a call to prevent future contact.
- In-App Reporting: A dedicated "Report" button on the call screen allows users to flag harassment, inappropriate behavior, or safety concerns.
- Safe Talk Mode: An optional setting that adds additional layers of automated moderation to the matching process.
5. Moderation and Enforcement
Our moderation team reviews reports with high priority. Actions taken against violators include:
- Permanent Device Banning: We ban the unique device identifier to prevent bad actors from creating new accounts.
- Mutual Disconnection: In the event of confirmed abuse, we terminate all active connections associated with the violator.
6. Law Enforcement Cooperation
We take our legal obligations seriously. NightOwl will:
- Report any instances of suspected CSAM or child exploitation to the **National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)** and relevant law enforcement authorities.
- Comply with all legal requests for data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and local laws to assist in safety investigations.
7. User Data Deletion and Privacy
NightOwl respects your right to control your data. We provide clear paths for data deletion:
- Account Deletion: You can initiate account deletion directly within the mobile app settings. This process will permanently remove your profile, match history, and friend list.
- Online Data Deletion Request: If you no longer have access to the app, you can request data deletion by emailing our safety team.
- Data Retention: Upon deletion, your personal identifiers are removed from our active databases. Some non-identifiable technical logs may be retained for a limited period for security and compliance monitoring.
8. How to Report a Concern
If you encounter any behavior that violates these standards:
- Tap the **Report** button during or after a call.
- Select the relevant category (e.g., Harassment, Safety Concern).
- Provide a brief description of the incident.
